This is a bittersweet post! I have cut my blogger teeth on ohiloveyourhair.blogspot.com and it's been wonderful. I will now be posting directly on my new website which is http://tcuttingroom.com/ Please follow my blog at http://tcuttingroom.com/ohiloveyourhair/ where you can follow by RSS feed... See you there!
I recently read "Timeline of a Tan" in the latest Women's Health Magazine. This timeline is easy to understand, and I hope it hits home for many people. I am religious about sunscreen, I am careful about the time I spend in the sun, I haven't seen the inside of a tanning bed for 20+ years, and even I was made more aware. Please take care of yourself and if you must, get your bronze artificially! I am on a constant quest for the best sunless tans and I will be sharing my favorites soon!
I love Davines Alchemic conditioner in Silver... It has a touch of violet tint to brighten highlights and counteract brassy hues. Great to use after a beach vacation!
Many of you may know I have this odd fascination with Lauren Conrad. I've just added Lauren Conrad Beauty to The Cutting Room coffee table books. The tips in the book are not intended to give advice to those in my industry but is great for clients! Great reading material the next time you are in The Cutting Room...
Green is this year's color. Looking for a new nail polish color, the greens are all a little too bright and candy inspired for me right now... This new green is perfect! It's an olive shade with a slight metallic edge. oh i love this polish!
I've had a lot of people tell me they still struggle with nail stickers... Here is "the man" Tom Bachik giving a tutorial. If you haven't heard of him before, he is the most sought after celebrity manicurist. He has the best back story. Tom was an avid skateboarder, and started out as a graphic artist. He custom painted helmets, etc. but hisgraphic arts company was struggling. Married with a child on the way, he had heard that hairdressing was a great career. After realizingthe schooling was longer than he had time for, he decided on nails! Loving a good competition, he won several awards in nail art, and the rest is history...
With some feathers from the craft store, I decided to go for DIY nail art... I clipped a feather, added a dot of glue to add it to a nail, and a final top coat. Too easy!
Nail art is here to stay. It has made a presence at awards shows, and on the runways of fashion week. Even if you can't take the plunge, you can have fun adding some creativity to at least one nail... I love finding new products to make the process easier. One of my friends told me about a new product I'm in love with. It is a top coat which works like a gel coat! For best results, all you have to do is let it set under a 60 watt bulb for 2 minutes. Instant gratification! (thanks MP)
My Grammy favorites happened on people I wouldn't normally be inspired by when it comes to fashion. Jennifer Lopez had my favorite hair. I love a ballet bun, but I'm loving more the top knot...

Favorite male hair, Justin Timberlake. He did not reinvent anything but it's sharp, and he clearly transformed his hair with a keratin treatment which is impressive!
So excited about the Grammy's! Can't wait to see if everyone follows the dress code... While hair is my world, everyone knows I love nails. There should be some fun creations on that front as well, I'll follow up on my favorites!
Inspired by one of my favorite products, Davines Finest Pigments which contains rose oil, I set out to find rose water. I found this at Whole Foods and I love it! I'm on a hunt to find all things with a touch of rose...
I gave up the ombre look on my hair a few years ago. I was tired of it and tired of seeing it on everyone... After a much-needed break I'm excited to see what is being named the "lombre" (Low Ombre). Much more subtle, and concentrated on the ends instead of mid-length. I am calling it the "sombre"(somber). I could get used to it!
Website is up and running! With an initial recommendation from Doc for Macs (highly recommend if you're a Mac geek like I am), and a lot of detail help from my sweet cousin who does coding along with lots of website design knowledge, I was able to design my website. Notice the copyright! http://tcuttingroom.com/
The Screen Actors Guild awards is on tonight. You know I love awards season! Stay tuned tomorrow for my favorites! I already love the dress colors, hair color as well... Lots of natural "dressed" hair!
If you haven't heard, Tanya French is now working for Tanya French at The Cutting Room! I'melated. My clients have shown so much support and excitement for me as well. I am fortunate that I have some incredible people in my life who are talented beyond belief as well as generous! One such person, my friend Prentiss Douthitwho designed my logo/branding. I couldn't be happier with his design. It's amazing, he's amazing. Click on his name for the link, he has partnered with William Arthur! His name is below Vera Wang on the William Arthur website... Prentiss has a great eye which he so eloquently brings to life on paper... oh, i love my friends!
My favorite product right now is Davines Well Being De Stress Lotion. I'm using it as a detangler, and it is the best detangler I've used! It works immediately and doesn't weigh the hair down or leave it oily. This is designed to be a spray lotion for the body as well. With clove, nutmeg and sandalwood essential oils, the scent is amazing!
I will always be grateful for the contributions Vidal Sassoon made to hairdressing...
"Hairdressers are a wonderful breed. You work one-on-one with another human being and the object is to make them feel so much better and to look at themselves with a twinkle in their eye." Vidal Sassoon
I have been using Davines Finest Pigments on my clients and myself a lot lately. Winter brings dull, dry hair and this is just the thing to offset all of that! It is a temporary gloss andthe options are clear, or several different colors to enhance as well. My hair feels amazing and has twice as much body... The ingredients are 98% natural, one of the ingredients being rose oil so it leaves the hair smelling incredible. This can enhance gray, blonde, brunettes, redheads alike!I will be doing two of these treatments on clients today... oh, i love Davines!
Jessica Alba took my breath away in last year's color tangerine, and her bronze skin accented by a beautiful ombre balayage...

Kate Hudson's dress was the most beautiful of the night! I would have loved to see her hair pulled back clean and simpleto reveal all the details on the dress...

As for my predictions: Amy Adams showed the perfect example of 1920's hair.
The Golden Globe Awards are tonight-I'm dying! It ismy favorite awards show, revealing the trends for awards season. I can't wait to see the hair and dresses... I predict a very 1920's feel again this year. Deep plum lips as well. Stay tuned for my favorites!
Everyone knows I love Oi!!! It is my very favorite product! I could tell you all of the reasons why I am obsessed with Oi, why I use it on EVERY client and why I think it is a genius product, but this video is probably more interesting... On a side note, Angelo Seminara who is giving this tutorial was voted hairdresser of the year for the second year in a row...If you need your own Oi you can run to Barney's and it is also sold at The Cutting Room!
I have raved about BB creams, but the latest and greatest is now CC cream. This stands for color control...It has all the benefits BB cream has to offer, in addition to nourishing ingredients and more skin coverage.Sign me up! Chanel has one on the market only in Asia currently, so I'm sure everyone will follow suit.
Downton Abbey's 3rd season premieres January 6, and you know I am beside myself. If you haven't seen season 1 and 2 catch up now! Mark my words, the hair you see this season will be a trend for the hair you will see on the red carpet... On a side note, you may want to tune in to see Secrets of Highclere Castle.Downton Abbey is loosely based on stories surrounding it's history and the backdrop of the castle is used for the show...
