Face Value

I, being the lucky girl I am, received the most amazing facial peel from one of our estheticians at Spa310.  Being in the industry, I've tried many different treatments and this by far was the best I've had.  My skin feels brand new!  It's glowing...  This first made me realize how all treatments I've had in the past had fallen short.  It also reminded me once again how privileged I am to be in a salon with people who take pride in their work.  I revel in working alongside others who continue their education and stay current with new trends.  It is what I base my own career on, and I am inspired by everyone who makes this a foundation of their own careers as well!

Gold Leaf

I have been wanting to work with gold leafing in hair.  Special occasion hair.  Today I added gold leaf to detail a braid incorporated into the style.  It became a beautiful hair accessory!

Observation

Ombre hair became popular when a few noted celebrities made it ok to have highlights look as if they'd grown out.  They also came about at the same time that our country started struggling financially.  Letting your hair "go" became fashionable, and economical.  
The more current look now is a touch of ombre, much more subtle and keeping the hairline lighter.  This requires more maintenance than ombre but as we learned from the financial crisis we are ready to invest in ourselves again.  It may not be at the same level as before, but I believe it's a gorgeous look!

Face Paint

I LOVE makeup.  Makeup encompasses many of the things I love.  Color, fashion, creativity, pulling a look together. 
 I am lucky to be working with the Jane Iredale line. It is mineral makeup, and is truly skin care makeup. The line is amazing, with so many great products not available in other makeup lines.  I am having so much fun with the makeup for the cosmetic qualities but the bonus is that it has so many skin care benefits.  Even better is that we carry it at Spa 310!

Picture This

Iconic Hermes does it again...  This time combining photography (my obsession) with fashion.  Photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto took long exposure shots of cinema screens, and Hermes made them into scarves.  They are meant to be displayed and not worn, which could probably be said for all Hermes scarves!
The result is brilliant...

At the Movies...

  Indulging a 7 year old girl, I saw the Katy Perry movie today...
I actually enjoyed it, taking in her make up and hair the whole time.  Her make up artist is genius, he transforms her repeatedly.  I used to own a wig salon, so I was captured by her collection!  It was an explosion of pastel and candy.  I once found her to be a caricature, a bit over the top.  Now I can appreciate her ability to have fun with fashion and not take it all so seriously.  As her movie states, she makes everyone smile...

Scratch and Sniff

The Denman brush is a classic brush.  It is technically the only brush to use on a one length cut.  I would have loved these scented Denman brushes when I was 9, and I will admit I'd love one now!!!  They come in several scents.  The lemon sherbet might be refreshing, but the coconut would be perfect for summer...
